Michael Bär (Founder and Chairman)
Michael has over 20 years of experience in investment banking, trading, and private banking in New York, London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Zurich. Prior to founding Baer Capital Partners Ltd., Michael was the Head of Private Banking and a Member of the Executive Board at Julius Bär Group, the largest Swiss private bank. Michael is also Chairman of Charlemagne Capital, an independent specialist emerging markets firm with over US$4B in assets under management. Michael is a graduate of the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he currently serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council.

Brij Raj Singh (Founder and CEO)
Brij Raj Singh was born and raised in India. He attended Mayo College in Ajmer, and was later educated at St. Stephen’s College at Delhi University and the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He has also attended the “Advanced Management Program” at the Harvard Business School. Brij Raj Singh is currently the founding Chief Executive Officer at Baer Capital Partners Ltd. He was the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Julius Baer Middle East. Julius Baer was privileged to have been the first international private bank to be granted a license to operate in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Brij also successfully led Julius Baer to being recognized as the “Best Private Bank” in the region by Banker Middle East. He was previously a Managing Director at Merrill Lynch. Brij has also been the Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) in the Emirates besides being actively involved with numerous other organizations. Brij Singh regularly writes articles on strategy and leadership development. He is also the author of “India Chalo” (2008), “Wisdom Beyond Borders” (2006), both published by Harper Collins, and “Building Successful Organizations – A Directional Approach” (1996).

Alok Sama (Founder and President)
Alok has over 20 years of investment banking, capital markets and investing experience based in New York, Hong Kong, Mumbai and London. Prior to founding Baer Capital Partners Ltd., Alok was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley. Alok is credited with establishing Morgan Stanley’s investment banking business in India. Under his direction, Morgan Stanley attained a leadership position in India with a client portfolio including Reliance Industries, The Tata Group and Bharti Telecom. Over the years, Alok’s clients have also included Procter & Gamble, Citigroup, KKR and General Motors. Alok has an MBA degree from Wharton and an undergraduate degree from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.

Joseph Iskander
Joseph is a Director of Dubai Group, an investment arm of Dubai Holding. He has over 10 years experience in the financial services industry, covering various areas such as banking, audit, research, private equity and asset management. He represents Dubai Group on the board of Sphinx Glass in Egypt, Marfin Popular Bank in Greece and Sun Hung Kai Co. Limited in Hong Kong.

Jawad Qasim
Jawad is Executive Director – Head of Strategic & Principal Investments at Shuaa Capital PSC. He has vast experience in the financial services industry, having worked in the Emerging Markets, Public and Private Equity divisions of Dubai International Capital LLC prior to this. He has also been a member on the boards and committees of various banks and financial institutions in the Middle East. Jawad holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a major in Finance, from McGill University, in addition to being a CFA Charter holder.

Peter O’Shea
Peter is an entrepreneur and investor who spent his professional career at the heart of the global capital markets, initially with the Central Bank in Ireland and culminating in a decade with Morgan Stanley’s London office, where he built a foreign exchange and currency derivatives business and was a Managing Director. Peter served on Morgan Stanley’s Global Investment Strategy Group, wrote regularly for the firm’s investment research publications and has been involved with alternative investments for over twenty years.

Samir Fancy (Chairman, Tawoos Group)
Samir is the Chairman of the Tawoos Group, which is based in Muscat, Oman. The Tawoos Group is a family owned private company that acts as a holding company for investments across geographies. The Tawoos Group owns and controls direct investments in both public and private companies. Samir is also a board member of the ‘National Bank of Oman’, one of the largest financial institutions in Muscat.
